The Roman amphitheatre in the centre of Doué-La-Fontaine isn't as widely advertised as other sites but, since it's so close, it's worth a visit.

You could combine it with a shopping trip. You can find out more about it at the official tourism site for Doué-La-Fontain but, unfortunately, they don't seem to provide an English version for the page. (In general, this is a good site and offers lots of additional ideas.)

While we're in Doué-La-Fontaine we could take a peek at some of the other things that are worth a visit.  First up is the Bioparc (a fairly open Zoo).

Doué is also well-known for its cultivation of roses.  You may want to visit one of the flower displays, such as Les Chemins de la Rose.   The home of the Rose
